中國國際航空股份有限公司簡稱“國航”,英文名稱為“Air China Limited”,簡稱“Air China”,其前身中國國際航空公司成立於1988年。根據國務院批准通過的《民航體制改革方案》,2002年10月,中國國際航空公司聯合中國航空總公司和中國西南航空公司,成立了中國航空集團公司,並以聯合三方的航空運輸資源為基礎,組建新的中國國際航空公司。 2004年9月30日,經國務院國有資產監督管理委員會批准,作為中國航空集團控股的航空運輸主業公司,國航在北京正式成立。 2004年12月15日,中國國際航空股份有限公司在香港(股票代碼0753)和倫敦(交易代碼AIRC)成功上市。
